Dr. Richard Hom is the National Optometric Director at Anthem Inc. He is the clinical subject matter expert for the Vision Management Team and collaborates with vision care and primary care medical providers to reduce the overall cost of eye and systemic medical conditions.

Dr. Hom joined Anthem in 2012. Prior to this, he served as a Primary Care Optometry Consultant at San Mateo Medical Center, an Oracle Strategic Account Manager at SGI, and a Lt. Colonel for the United States Army. Outside of his professional roles, he serves as a Trustee for the California Optometric Association and an Adjunct Professor at both Western University of Health Sciences and the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Hom received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkely, a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from Salus University, and his Masters in Public Administration from San Francisco State University. He is a critical component of the leadership team that helps to advance business and strategic planning for equitable, compassionate, and effective health care outcomes.
